A Cocktail of Edgy Design & Unstoppable Innovation

Over the past few years we have experienced a few really big moments: joining the HP family; creating a start-up business within HP; launching Blackbird; setting up a dedicated Voodoo Business Unit; and more recently introducing the Omen and Envy 133.

Yesterday was another big one: it’s been announced internally that the Voodoo products are no longer going to be stand-alone entities, but rather they have been welcomed into the greater HP catalogue.

What does this mean?

Ultimately it means that Voodoo and Voodoo-influenced products will be easier to buy, faster to get, they will feature local service, and they will have the full power of HP’s marketing and sales channel behind them. The bottom line is we have ignited the brand and sparked big excitement; so we are now integrating our organizations to fuel our growth.

Since we were acquired by HP in 2006 the plan was always to transform cutting edge ideas and innovations from the high end Voodoo portfolio into various parts of HP’s portfolio. Thanks to the overwhelmingly positive response over our latest products the plan is now being accelerated ultimately making it a reality sooner than any of us ever imagined.

We’re lucky to be part of an organization that appreciates everything we have built and accomplished so far. The great news is we’re all heading in the same direction, and it’s a good thing – it’s a real good thing.

I understand that you have to spin it positively because that's your job, but I think it'd be interesting to see a more detailed explanation of what exactly this entails, along with the pros and cons of this latest development and maybe even the thoughts and considerations that went into it.

I realize that we don't have any particular right to such information, just think it would be interesting to hear/read.

PS: That's a kicka$$ picture!

I was really surprised to read this yesterday. Not sure how this is going to affect Voodoo and the way it goes about its business.

Though this news seems to kind of go against a few of the features and benefits of the old Voodoo PC, I'm all for it, if things improve overall, and if this helps me get my envy 133 on time, even better, heheh.

Seeing as how the envy 133 missed its 1st ship date, and is looking like it will likely miss it's second ship date, I really hope this new direction makes that kind of behavior a thing of the past. Here's hoping 3rd times the charm!

Now does this mean that the Envy 133 will be available in stores? I hope this is so because I would really like to try it out before I buy it - although I bought the blackbird without trying it, a laptop is a more personal thing and the chance to actually handle them before making a purchase decision is important (to me, at least.)

Have some faith. There's no reason to believe they'll miss the 28th just yet, check out the forums.

As long as the speed to the customers hands doesn't mean a drop in quality.

Will all the customized options still be available (paint, tattoos, etc.) or will it become homogenized?

So, does this mean that the Blackbird and Omen will be sold direct in the EU?
