Bringing Industrial 3D Printing from Prototyping to Mainstream Manufacturing

Just as Ford’s assembly line reinvented car manufacturing, 3D printing and the digitization of design and manufacturing are poised to usher in another industri..., a transformation that moves manufacturing from mass production to mass customization while streamlining workflow and slashing costs. 3D printing innovation is already transforming manufacturing across industries, including automotive, healthcare, fashion and aerospace. Powered by HP Multi Jet Fusion technology, HP is working to transition industrial 3D printing from prototyping to manufacturing, for auto parts to footwear.


However, advancing 3D printing innovation requires individual vendors to look beyond simply selling proprietary materials for their equipment. Last week’s announcement from SAP signaled HP’s commitment to a co-innovation program spearheaded by SAP and inclusive of 3D stakeholders from throughout the industry. Participants are expected to benefit from a first-mover advantage by engaging in the early-stage production environment. Together, we will test, validate and improve SAP’s model, in order to expedite time to market and disrupt traditional supply chains.
