Tales from The Next Bench: Jornada 420

jornada Launched in February 1999, the Jornada 420 was HP's first pocket-size PC, and it was one of the first Microsoft Windows CE pocket-size PCs boasting a color screen. Weighing 8.81 ounces and measuring 5.1 inches by 3.2 inches by 0.9 inches, it sure was a handful. In a good way. That crisp color screen was obviously the star. Whether you used the stylus on the touch screen or the shortcut buttons lining the 420, you’d keep going back to that display. And when you just wanted to read a document or email, a clear protective screen cover would flip into place so that you couldn’t accidentally tap the touchscreen surface. It doesn't seem like that long ago, but we've come a long way.
