Two Parties, One Night

timbaland In the words of the Black Eyed Peas, last night was a good, good night. It kicked off with a little surprise for the 2010 graduating class at Culver City High School. More than three hundred seniors showed for up what they thought was a run-of-the-mill graduation party. Instead they were greeted by rapper-producers Dr. Dre and Timbaland. The surprise performance was a gift from HP, Interscope Records and Beats by Dr. Dre. HP has been collaborating with Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine to produce Beats Audio, a sound system featured on the HP ENVY 15 Beats Special Edition, HP ENVY notebooks and several other premium HP systems.

The Story of Julie West

juliewest Design can be as important as technology when it comes to personal computers. This is the final interview in a four part interview series with the artists who created exclusive wallpaper designs for HP. Although Julie West started out using traditional tools, almost half of her art today is made with digital tools, or a combination of the two. Often quirky, bizarre, or ironic, her work examines the way people live and define themselves and the environments they create. My favorite quote from the interview – “I think my inspiration primarily comes from watching the situations people find themselves in and how they react. In some ways, I think my work is like a photograph."

The Story of Laura Barnard

laurabarnard Design can be as important as technology when it comes to personal computers. This is the second of a four part interview series with the artists who created exclusive wallpaper designs for HP. Laura Barnard is an illustrator from the UK who specializes in quirkily drawn cityscapes and unusual views of cities. She started career as a fine artist, and later trained as a graphic designer. My favorite quote from the interview – “I'm drawn to buildings that are a bit ugly and nondescript. I might be one of the few people that would campaign against tearing down dreadful looking buildings from the 60’s.”

Think Fast

Last night was Fast Company's 6th annual Masters of Design event at the Chelsea Art Museum in New York, which brought together 300+ of the most innovative minds that impact a multitude of different industries. It was a great pleasure to be a part of the event on behalf of Hewlett-Packard and to meet the creative minds that are involved in the design of products, buildings, brands and more.
