How to Upgrade the HPE Phoenix

I took the HPE Phoenix for a couple quick tests and it performed pretty well. However, a couple questions kept popping up both in my head and in the forums: How tough is this thing to upgrade? How far can you really take the Phoenix?  Why would I need to upgrade the graphics in this machine? Can my giant-sausage fingers fit inside this tight case? All fair questions…..that I'm about to answer with a quick video....

For those of you familiar with movies like “Act of Valor,” you may have asked yourself how the filmmakers brought their concept to life. The HP Z-series Workstations is how. Whether you’re running a film studio – like “Act of Valor” creators, the Bandito Brothers - or a design house, these workstations scream, “Power!” You know, we’ve talked up the Z800’s power for ages now – but where do you take it from there?  My answer: The newly unveiled HP Z420Z620 and Z820 workstations.

HP @ CES: A Photoblog

The annual Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas is kind of a nerdy mess. THOUSANDS of people swarm in to show off the tech trends for the new year. It’s a lot of sights and sounds to absorb if you're not ready for it. Well, there are parts of it that the press gets up-close-and-personal in a much more manageable ballroom - as opposed to running all around Vegas. Well, I wanted to share a couple pictures that I took during the Digital Experience and Showstoppers events that HP demoed over the past few nights. Then, I wanted to share a couple other things that we did during the show. But, really, CES 2012 was all about the ENVY 14 Spectre.

Spectre is Coming

Last year, as we announced the latest line of ENVY laptops and TouchSmart desktops, some….thing was lurking.Spectre. Rumors have been floating around the Web. A couple sites like Engadget and Mashable have already taken a moment to scrutinize the following video, but what the heck is Spectre?

Quick Read: How HP Designs Laptops

I like it when journalists take the time to ask the "why" and "how" behind laptop design. Laptopmag's Michael A. Prospero recently did just that and I wanted to share a couple neat bits here. Read on for a couple insights from HP's director of notebook design, Stacy Wolff. (And, of course, I have to throw in my two cents as well.)

HP Ink Challenge

Launched in September and led by yours truly, the HP Ink Challenge gives 102 participants from across the U.S. the opportunity to check out the importance of ink in printing. The “challengers” were given two HP Photosmart printers – one using Original HP ink and one using third-party refilled ink cartridges – and a series of materials to print.

HP Papercraft

When I was a little kid, at home sick, my mom would yank out a book of paper models she had lying around. From there, I’d go to town punching out shapes, inserting tab “A” into slot “B” and building my own paper empires. All these memories came flooding back as I recently played with the HP Envy100 e-All-in-One-Printer. Want to learn more about papercraft and how to get the most out of it on your printer – and see some great, nerdy starter projects? Keep reading.
