How HP, YouTube and you created new music

Over the past couple days, we took over YouTube with music producer Clams Casino and Rapper Vic Mensa. We called it 2Days Beat where we took YOUR comments and made a sweet track with them. The results: Well, rather than talk about it, how’s about you just hear the results. Click this link for SoundCloud and we’ll talk in a minute.

Young Guru, HP and the “Era of the Engineer”

Drop the name “Young Guru” on anyone plugged into the music community – they know this guy is the real deal. Often credited for being the keeper of “The Sound of New York,” he’s the audio engineer behind almost every Jay-Z album recorded. He’s collaborated to help refine the sounds on countless albums with other artists. But a lot of people out there still don’t realize what an audio engineer does – or how they could get into the game. What’s it take? What kind of insights do you get from working with some of the biggest artists out there? What technology makes all of this even possible?

HP Beats Audio #WinChat: Your Questions, Answered

Ann Finnie and I jumped online with our pals at the Windows Blog to discuss Beats Audio, HP PCs and a whole lot more on Twitter during this past Tuesday’s #WinChat. We gabbed about everything from how HP first got involved with Beats, the tech behind the sound, people’s favorite summer jam lists…and, yes, even how wonderful Flo Rida smells (I’m looking at you, Kristina Libby!). So, we wanted to capture some of the great questions and conversations that came out of that lunch-hour tweetfest.

Two Parties, One Night

timbaland In the words of the Black Eyed Peas, last night was a good, good night. It kicked off with a little surprise for the 2010 graduating class at Culver City High School. More than three hundred seniors showed for up what they thought was a run-of-the-mill graduation party. Instead they were greeted by rapper-producers Dr. Dre and Timbaland. The surprise performance was a gift from HP, Interscope Records and Beats by Dr. Dre. HP has been collaborating with Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine to produce Beats Audio, a sound system featured on the HP ENVY 15 Beats Special Edition, HP ENVY notebooks and several other premium HP systems.
