Ultrabooks at CES: Sleek, Responsive and Portable

by GizmoGladstone January - last edited January

I’ve actually heard this question from a couple people: “What’s an Ultrabook?” Well, for those that have been hearing a whole lot about Ultrabooks for a while now, but not quite sure what the big deal is, then this little blog post is for you. (What? My stories about the HP ENVY 14 Spectre and Folio 13 didn’t fill in the blanks for you? I’m hurt. ;p) I was chatting earlier with Intel’s Marcia Hansen and she provided this handy breakdown:

1. Responsiveness You’ve Been Dreaming About – from sleeping to working, you’ll be able to start and resume your work in speeds that won’t make you frown. See the Intel Rapid Start Technology demo in the Intel booth.

2. Wireless Action You’ll Want to Show Off to Friends - you’ll be able to stream content from your Ultrabook to your HDTV with sweet clarity. Check out the WiDi 2.0 and Intel Insider experiences in the booth.

3. Shopping & Apps – You’ll be able to shop till you fall asleep at your keyboard, and access all the apps you crave with Intel AppUp. Apps such as Angry Birds and Nook for PC, as well as new apps only found in AppUp like Mixman Spin Control, making you a mobile music party machine. Stop by the Intel AppUp demo at the front of the Intel booth for the 411 .

My advice: If you’re in the neighborhood of the Las Vegas Convention Center, head over to the Intel booth and you can see what the Folio 13 is all about. Also, I know for a fact that there have been a couple Spectre sightings there – and right nearby over at the Microsoft booth. Just trying to help, folks!
