New Products, Support - When & Where You Need It

There’s something about new technology, and I’m really excited about our brand-new lineup of consumer PCs!

Customers have told us they want devices that offer flexibility and performance, while also delivering a sense of style – and so do I!

I also know customers want to know that HP will be there if they need help using and making the most of their HP products.

First, a bit about these new products: They definitely fit the bill with innovative designs, fun color options, choice of operating systems, tablet, laptop or hybrid options, and the flexibility that makes it easy to balance work and play. They include:

  • Two new HP Stream laptops (11.6-inch and 13.3-inch), which are powered by an Intel Celeron processor, have 32GB of eMMC flash memory, and include such free goodies as Office 365 Personal and 1TB of OneDrive storage for one year.
  • We also introduced two new Windows 8 tablets: The 7-inch HP Stream 7 and the 8-inch HP Stream 8. These budget friendly tablets ($99 for the 7-inch and $149 for the 8-inch) are ideal options for tech on-the-go.
  • Two new powerful HP ENVY x2 detachable PCs that not only give a notebook experience for productivity, but also switch to a tablet for entertainment and apps.
  • The ultra-portable HP Pavilion x2 detachable PC – a single device that transforms from tablet to laptop (this one is my personal favorite – It really does “travel like a tablet, work like a laptop!”).
  • Two new colorful HP Chromebooks with the power of Chrome OS for a fast online experience.

Performance and support

Of course, any time we introduce new products, I also think about the entire life of the products and the support a customer may need – or that I’ll need – down the road.

Whether it’s help setting up my new technology right out of the box and installing to a network, making sure all my local and networked printers work, or figuring out how to share files at home and work, I want to be able to find those answers quickly and easily.

I also want to make sure I’m getting the best performance from my new technology, as well as plenty of support options at my fingertips – before I need it. Here’s a rundown of the U.S. (and international!) support options that have become my go-to resources to keep my devices running great and in tip-top shape…

HP Customer Support Forums

The HP Support Forum is a great place to get my tech questions answered and to learn more about how I can get the most out of my HP devices – in seven different languages, including English, Spanish, Portuguese (Brazil), Portuguese (Portugal),French, German, Simplified Chinese and Korean. The Forum is also divided into categories – like tablets, laptops and notebooks, desktop computers, printers and more – making it easy to navigate to find just the topic I need.

And, if I have a question, I just post it on the Forum to get an answer from one of the many volunteer and employee Experts. I also like the option to just do a search when I’m in a hurry. I’ve found that someone else has often asked the same question, and there’s an answer that will help.

HP on Twitter

One of the things that makes me especially passionate about social media is the ability to get a quick response when I post a question or need resolution from a company about something I’ve purchased. That’s a big win in my book when I can get something solved and carry on with my day.

I also get the same speedy feedback when I ask a question @HPSupport on Twitter. A recent Zendesk survey about customer service and business found that 69 percent of those interviewed defined good customer service as “receiving a quick resolution to a reported problem.” I like seeing HP Experts signing on to say hello at the start of the day and goodbye at the end of the day – and I appreciate knowing there’s someone on the other end of the line who’s ready to help answer my questions.

HP Expert Days

There are times when I want to chat with someone on the fly about tech issues, and that’s one of the reasons HP’s quarterly Expert Days are another win for me. I can just join HP’s online support community, and get all of my questions answered in real-time. Expert Days are pretty popular, too. In fact, the last Expert Day, held August 27-28, attracted more than 330,000 combined web and mobile visits! I also like reading the roundup of the most recent best advice from Forum community members on the Best of the Community blog. And, most of the time, I find the answer to something I’ve experienced!

HP Support Assistant

One of the features of HP laptops with Windows® 8 that I hear great feedback about from customers is that they come installed with HP Support Assistant. For me, it’s nice to get automated reminders that help keep my computer running smoothly so I’m not losing downtime at work. I like to think of it as my computer’s internal IT department! With a simple menu that makes it easy to schedule automatic fixes and software updates, run diagnostic tests, get alerts, and access help tools, it helps me solve problems and stay productive.

HP Support on YouTube

As a visual learner, I especially appreciate the HP Support channel on YouTube when I want to see the nuts and bolts of how something works. I can see exactly how to address issues, plus there’s video help in Spanish, French, Italian, German, Portuguese, Russian and Arabic, among others. With a huge database of helpful videos to help me get the best out of my HP products, it’s really been a valuable resource to help answer questions, troubleshoot problems, and get expert tips. And, if I don’t see my question in one of the videos, I can just post a comment, and one of the HP Experts gets back to me with an answer.

Ready when you are – wherever you are...
I’m online a lot – like we all are – and I’ve discovered that the kind of social support options like the ones covered in this post have gone a long way to help me (and thousands of HP customers!) solve some of those quirky tech issues a lot faster. Let me know how you’re enjoying and using your new HP hardware – and how these support options are helping you stay more productive.
