HP Slate VoiceTab “Phablets” coming to India

While you were sleeping, HP revealed the HP Slate6 VoiceTab and Slate7 VoiceTab. Yep, these 6- and 7-inch devices are tablet-phone mash-ups. Or “Phablets.” Or….you get the point. Today, I wanted to give you a little extra perspective on what we’re making and why we’re doing it.

slate 6 voicetab.jpgEDITOR’S NOTE: Here’s what you need to know, up front: These are currently launching in India. I don’t have any additional availability or pricing information to share at this point.  I promise you that when I have more information to share, I will. So consider what you read here a tease. Still want to hear more about HP’s latest entry in mobility? Of course, you do….

In the same way that tablets and laptops are colliding in our x2 line, smartphones and tablets are blurring lines as well. That’s why something like the VoiceTab is a natural move, in my humble opinion. You get substantial size and performance – and still have the ability to fit everything you need into single device you can hold in one hand.

Built on Android 4. 2, both the HP Slate6 VoiceTab and HP Slate7 VoiceTab come equipped with a 3G Dual SIM Dual Standbyfeature. They also offer 3G and WiFi capabilities, 16 GB of built-in storage and up to 32 GB of external expandable MicroSD card storage.

Both devices come equipped with a 2MP front camera and a 5MP auto-focus rear camerafor photos and video chats. The HP Slate6 also features an LED Flashon the rear camera.

The stylish, compact design is slim enough to fit nicely in the pocket – and your hand. The HP Slate6  VoiceTab is 8.98 mm thin (the HP Slate7 VoiceTab is 9.5 mm) and features a premium pixilated, scratch-resistant carbon fiber case.

If I have more news to share with you about the HP Slate VoiceTab line, we’ll update you here at TheNextBench.com.

In the meantime, I’m curious to hear your thoughts. Would you want a 6 or 7-inch hybrid phone tablet in your jacket pocket? Let me know what’s on your mind.

Hoping this Slate 6 VoiceTab will also be available here in the Philippines. I'll definetly be the first in line once this is out. :-)
