What is the purpose of the red tape put on the mannequins? How does one's idea move from a sketch to an actual pattern cutout?

I enjoy the show but wish there was a little focus on how designs become outfits and less on the snarky comments. I'm a 48 yr old mom who enjoys sewing but won't be going to Parsons School of Design in this lifetime....

What do you designers do all the other times you are not on the runway?  Do you go to class, get out and sight-see?

by SuMmEr(anon) on ‎09-30-2010 07:34 PM
April, I love your designs and also your style. You are a great inspiration to me because I am younger and love design. I was wondering, where did you go to design school and how do you do the "April Bun?" keep up the great work!

FOR ALL DESINGERS WHAT HAS BEEN THE BIGGEST CHALLENGE FOR YOU THIS FAR?

by swalters(anon) on ‎09-30-2010 09:08 PM

Why doesn't Tim blog? That would be so great. The Lifetime website for Project Runway is not very good.

by AR(anon) on ‎09-30-2010 09:53 PM

Project Runway and Tim are the BEST!

I think it is so confusing when we see Gretchen as a snarky, resentful person toward Michael C. and slowly the other contestants are developing their own opinion and liking MIchael C.  - my question is why all the drama Gretchen? What do you have against Michael C.?  He doesn't seem to be mean, so why are you toward him?

Also, how do the contestants "make it work" financially while being on the show?

I love the HP challenge!

Thanks so much!

I have been a fan since day one!

What advice do you have for upcoming designers like myself? Did someone cheat on this season of Project runway?  I would like to be on Project Runway one day but I don't have alot of experience in the fashion industry. What do you suggest I do? I don't know how to soe clothing yet.

by Jaguar(anon) on ‎10-01-2010 05:55 AM

Has the show encouraged all of you to make more disparaging comments about each other this year?  The extra half hour of cattiness is very offputting, and makes it impossible to like any one of you, really.

Gretchen, do you ever have anything nice to say about anyone?

Like others here, I would like to know more about the software used for both the sketching and the fabric design on the HP computers.

by Myztik(anon) on ‎10-01-2010 06:44 AM

Congrats to all the contestants... I am currently a Fashion Design student seeking to be a Fashion Designer and will be completing my Bachelors degree in December.  My questions is to allHow did you know that you were ready to compete in project runway?????.. Many of my peers tell me to try out but I am skeptical about it because I don't know if I am ready for this step. I would also like to know more info on the software as well as the hardware of the HP that you guys are using on the show....

Good Luck to all.... Myztik

Do any one of you regret anything you have done (like sewing or said to someone or etc)  so far on the show?

by sharell50(anon) on ‎10-01-2010 08:31 AM

Hello Project Runway Judges, I think that Mondo is the best designer of this season's Project Runway! First of all I love the show, I think I got hooked the first time that I watched it! I would like to know who came up with the idea of the show "Project Runway" and also what do you think of having some male models modeling some fashions that the designers make. Also, I love Mr. Tim Gunn, I like how he says " Hello Designers" LOL

by teal(anon) on ‎10-01-2010 08:34 AM

how long does the entire process take from episode one to naming the winner? how many shows are taped per week?

by Robin Nichols(anon) on ‎10-01-2010 11:54 AM

Technology has come a long way, do you foresee the elimination of archaic tools like patterns, dress forms, etc or will there always be a need for some of the basic tools?

I see scenes where you all have taped the dress forms with blue tape and placed paper cut outs on them (I am not a sewer) and I am not sure why you all do that, but do you foresee technology making those skills obsolete?

Also how much easier is designing with all of these high tech gadgets?

by Shepollo(anon) on ‎11-07-2010 10:35 AM

I think Mondo was considerably better than

Spoiler
Gretchen,

who won the entire shebang. She's a bit of a smart-alec.
