Mopria Alliance Lets You Print Anything, Anywhere

Forget leaving your boarding pass behind at the office – that’s bad enough. Imagine leaving a copy of that business contract you scored at the office only to realize it on the way to the big meeting.

The Mopria Alliance, formed by HP and other industry leaders seek to eliminate those panicked moments of stress by making it as easy as possible to print from any mobile device to any printer with which you come in contact.

With the Mopria standard taking hold in the industry, mobile printing is taking a major step forward as a result of collaboration between industry “frenemies.” In fact, HP alone now offers 16.5 million printers that are Mopria-certified and you can print from Mopria-certified HP Slates and additional Android mobile devices.

According to IDC, mobile printing is growing rapidly on a year-over-year basis, with 50 percent of smartphone and 58 percent of tablet users expected to be printing from their mobile devices by 2015(1).  However, a large percentage of smartphone and tablet users do not know how to print from their devices.

The Mopria Alliance is working to ensure that mobile printing is easy and ubiquitous, allowing people to print to any printer from any mobile device, regardless of brand or mobile application.

This initiative is being welcomed with open arms from consumers and businesses alike, as today’s lack of standards and complex processes are hindering widespread mobile print adoption.
