Starting September 1 customers who create a new HP DataPass account will receive 1 year of free service, consisting of 100MB per month for 12 months . 100MB will allow customers to connect a few times each month to sync email, browse the web, or look up directions. When more connectivity is needed, customers can purchase over the air one of the new value-priced HP DataPass plans.
The new HP DataPass plans start at $4 for 3 hours of connectivity (75 MB cap). Other options include a 1 day pass for $9 (250 MB), a 1 week pass for $15 (500MB), and a 1 month pass for $30 (1 GB) or $45 (2GB). There is no contract or activation fee, enabling customers to purchase just the connectivity they need when they need it. For the occasionally mobile customer, HP DataPass offers significant savings compared with paid WiFi/internet at airports and hotels.
And right now there are great Labor Day deals on HP ProBooks with Gobi mobile broadband, including an HP ProBook 4440s for $649 and a HP ProBook 6560b for $939. These products are perfect for the SMB customer who needs occasional mobile connectivity, but doesn’t want a 1- or 2-year mobile operator subscription.
