When the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston’s School of Dentistry moved into their new facility, administrators recognized an opportunity to integrate brand new PC technology. “We needed technology that was sophisticated and flexible enough to meet the new teaching facility’s requirements as well as meet the needs of our students,” said Kevin Granhold, Director of Information Technology – University of Texas School of Dentistry.
The new facility, outfitted with more than 300 dental chairs and more than 100 dental simulation chairs, is an environment where students are trained in all disciplines of dentistry. With the school’s need for compact form factors, powerful performance and innovative mounting solutions, HP All-in-One PCs were the best choice.
In fact, the lab found exactly what they were looking for in the HP TouchSmart Elite 7320 PC and HP TouchSmart 420T PC – which offer the combination of business and consumer features needed to run everything from standard office programs such as Adobe Acrobat to specialized 3-D modeling applications.
“The performance capabilities to run specialized graphics for complex dental applications were a major consideration in us choosing the HP All-in-Ones. The HP solution was the only offering that satisfied our need for cable television tuners, advanced integrated graphics and touch-screen capabilities – all in a package that was lightweight enough to mount to our dental chairs.”
Each chair was fitted with VESA mounts to hold the HP All-in-Ones, allowing students to access patient records, view x-rays and operate 3-D imaging applications without the need to leave the patient’s side. HP All-in-Ones are now deployed throughout 95 percent of the facility – streamlining operations for students and faculty alike.
